You can imagine my surprise

When I encountered this sign at a client while we were on our way to kick off a records management/enterprise content management strategy project!

To be fair, there had been a class action lawsuit in force for many years in their industry, so this was not an unusual policy for their peer group by any means; but given that one of the main goals of the project we were working on was to curb over-retention, it made all of us laugh…and it earned a place as my desktop background for the rest of the project (and beyond).

The really funny thing is that most companies follow this policy to the letter whether they know it or not, since we all keep everything forever–we just don’t have signs announcing it.

And as it appears that I have a records-management-slash-enterprise-content-management-signs-that-make-you-go-hmm theme emerging, I figured I’d get crowdsourcy here and throw the gates wide open to anyone out there who has a sign they’d like to share–send it in with a write up, and I’ll post it here.
